Members of the 18th Chinese (Jiangsu) medical aid team to Guyana departures from Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital
On Wednesday, 29 September, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital held a farewell ceremony for the members of 18th China (Jiangsu) Medical Aid Team to Guyana. Mu Genglin, secretary of the Party Committee; Zhang Bing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee; Yue Biao, member of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee, directors of the member’s departments attended the ceremony.
Dr. Chu Xuehui, associate chief physician, leader of the medical team, made a speech on behalf of all the team members. Firstly, he expressed their appreciation to the hospital leaders and directors for their consistent support, while he also thanked all the member's family for their selfless dedication. He promised that they will live up to the expectations of the country and people, apply their professional expertise to benefit the local people, and contribute their wisdom and strength to build the community of human destiny.
Director of General Surgery Department, Dr. Guan Wenxian delivered a speech as the representative of the department directors. He said that their experience of this international medical aid would be a valuable memory during their life, and hoped that they should reinforce solidarity and actively cooperate with each other. He also reminded the team members to take care of themselves and take appropriate epidemic prevention and control measures. He expressed that the hospital will always be their strong backing and will provide support and assistance for them.
Secretary Mu paid tribute to the selfless dedication of the team members in carrying forward the international humanitarian spirit and the glorious tradition of international medical aid of Drum Tower Hospital. He expressed his heartfelt appreciations to the families of the team members as well as the leaders of their departments. At the same time, Secretary Mu, on behalf of the Party Committee of the hospital, put forward “four expectations” for the team members: Firstly, the medical team should become "doctors of great love". Secondly, to be the messenger of friendship between China and Guyana. Thirdly, to build a heroic team. Fourthly, they should “bring three things to and take three things back": bring mission, humanitarian spirit, and Drum Tower spirit to; take achievements, health, and happiness back. Finally, Secretary Mu urged the team members to adhere to the diplomatic thought of General Secretary Xi Jinping as a guide, remember their mission and strive to be an active and enterprising Drum Tower Staff in the new era.
Finally, the 11 international aid team members were sent off by the hospital leaders, department directors and staffs of the International Exchanges and Cooperation Department.
